Bridgette Radebe appointed to Brics Business Council

Businesswoman Bridgette Radebe has been appointed as one of five new members of the Brics Business Council.
Radebe is also the chairperson and CEO of Mmakau Mining, which initiates exploration and helps produce chrome, gold and platinum.
She is also the wife of Energy Minister Jeff Radebe and the older sister of South African businessman Patrice Motsepe.
The announcement of the new council was made by the Minister of Department of Trade and Industry Rob Davies in Pretoria on Tuesday.
“The council is made up of five members with extensive business experience locally and internationally that include Ms Busi Mabuza, Dr Ayanda Ntsabula, Ms Bridgette Radebe, Dr Stavros Nicolaou and Mr Elias Monage,” Davies said.
According to Davies, the five member council was nominated by some of the country’s business associations.
“The appointment followed engagement between the DTI and organised business, following the Minister’s request that the members of the new Council be nominated from structures within the two apex business associations, the Black Business Council (BBC) and Business Unity South Africa (Busa).”
South Africa is the current chair of the Brics Business Council.
The country will hand over to Brazil at the council’s meeting in April.
