A taxi driver has been arrested after a man was shot dead during an argument in Johannesburg central, Gauteng police said on Wednesday.

A taxi driver has been arrested after a man was shot dead during an argument in Johannesburg central, Gauteng police said on Wednesday.
The 30-year-old victim was standing outside the taxi on Bree street on Tuesday when the shooting took place, said Warrant Officer Xoli Mbele. It was unknown what the argument was about or if he was a passenger.
"He pulled out his licensed firearm and shot the victim once in the upper body," said Mbele. Paramedics were contacted and declared him dead on the scene.
The driver was arrested and his firearm confiscated. He is due to appear in the Johannesburg Magistrate's Court soon.
