Jiba to appeal High Court judgement against her
The National Prosecuting Authority's (NPA) Deputy National Director of Public Prosecutions, Nomgcobo Jiba, is going to appeal against Thursday morning's court ruling that she be struck off the roll of advocates.
"She is concerned, because this affects her livelihood," her legal representative Zola Majavu said.
Majavu said they will be back in the North Gauteng High Court in Pretoria as soon as possible.
That follows this morning's court order against Jiba and Special Director of Public Prosecutions, Lawrence Mrwebi.
"She instructed us to bring an application for leave to appeal and we are currently formulating those grounds. However, she did make a point that I must always stress that she respects the judiciary, she respects the decision of the court," he said.
The application to have Jiba and Mrwebi struck off the roll of advocates was brought by the General Council of the Bar.
It relates to the handling of high profile cases - including the NPA's decision not to pursue corruption charges against former crime intelligence boss Richard Mdluli.
