Joburg billing system error "the biggest one yet"
Updated | By MornéJK
The City of Joburg says a massive error at its revenue department will see hundreds of thousands of residents either not receive their accounts, or receive incorrect accounts.

The city has reported a failure in the customer statement delivery system.
The city's Luyanda Mfeka says the error relates to accounts for April.
"The failure has resulted in over 400 000 accounts not being issued their monthly statements while a further 97 000 accounts being issued incorrect statements," Mfeka says.
He says the system they use is automated and has never made an error of this magnitude.
"According to our investigations it is suspected that the system has been tampered with," Mfeko says.
Mayor Herman Mashaba has instructed law enforcement agencies, alongside the cyber-crimes unit, to investigate and compile a report on what might have caused the error.
