Updated | By Makhosazane Twala
Gauteng police are searching for a group of armed suspects who robbed a church in Johannesburg central on Saturday.
Gauteng police spokesperson Noxolo Kweza said the suspects walked into the church and demanded personal items from the congregants.
"They threatened the churchgoers with firearms. No one was injured and there are no arrests yet. The suspects later walked out of the church. Police have opened a business robbery docket.”
Acting Gauteng police commissioner Tommy Mthombeni condemned the church attacks.
"Police will do everything to bring the perpetrators to book. Church members should be allowed to do their business peacefully.”
