Joburg cop dies in hospital
Updated | By ANA
A woman police officer who was shot while patrolling along the Golden Highway, south of Johannesburg, died in hospital on Friday, the Gauteng community safety department said.

Sergeant Sharon Ralinala, 44, was shot on Monday while on patrol with two colleagues. The officers had tried to stop a suspicious BMW when its occupants fired at them. Ralinala, who was seated in the back of the vehicle, was shot in the upper body. Her two colleagues were unhurt.
MEC Sizakele Nkosi-Malobane said Ralinala died at Milpark Hospital on Friday afternoon. She said the province had been robbed of a dedicated member of the SA Police Service (SAPS).
“Her passing is not in vain and it would not weaken the morale of our police force, but will instead encourage them to do even more to continue to protect and serve our communities. I appeal to anyone with information to report it to the police so that we can bring the perpetrators to book and ensure that they face the full might of the law.
“On behalf of the Gauteng provincial government, I would like to send our heartfelt condolences to her family, friends, and fellow SAPS members.”
