The city says it needs resources from government following an intense storm.

The mayor of Johannesburg Herman Mashaba has declared "a local state of disaster" following an intensive storm ahead of the New Year's weekend.
This will give the city better access to resources from the provincial and national government's to assist those by the storm.
Mashaba on Friday met with the JMPD and Disaster Management Centre, among others, who determined 3152 houses were affected by the storm with roughly 1200 residents displaced.
The costs of the storm have been estimated at around R186,5 million.
"But this number is likely to rise as teams continue to quantify the damage," says Luyanda Mfeka, a spokesperson for the mayor.
Various other infrastructure have also been damaged with some already repaired.
The provincial government has meanwhile provided affected residents with temporary housing.
