Gauteng Traffic Police have warned motorists to expect traffic disruptions in the Joburg CBD until midday on Monday.
This is due to the expected protest by the truck drivers.
South African truck drivers will be marching to the bargaining council to submit a memorandum of demands.
The truck drivers, who are linked to All-Truck Drivers Forum and Allied SA (ATDF ASA), are unhappy over what they believe to be the hiring of a disproportionate number of foreign truck drivers.
Gauteng traffic police spokesperson Obed Sibasa says motorists to should avoid the areas until midday.
“Gauteng traffic police warns motorists and other road users of anticipated traffic disruptions due to All Truck Drivers march, the march would start in Germiston to hand over a memorandum at the Road Freight Bargaining Council in Braamfontein.
“Marchers will use the N3 north on to the M2 direction to Joburg, offramp at Rissik street through Joburg CBD Park stations. Motorists are advised to avoid the N3 North, M2 direction, Rissik street and De Korte and use alternative routes which are N12, N1 and M1.”
