Joburg raid officers remanded in custody

Ten police officers were remanded in custody after making a first appearance in the Johannesburg Magistrates Court on Monday.
The officers have been charged with corruption, extortion, defeating the ends of justice and theft after they allegedly stole a load of counterfeit goods during the raids in the Johannesburg CBD last week.

NPA spokesperson Phindi Mjonondwane says the criminal cases have been spread over three dockets.
Last week raids in the Johanessburg CBD led police to arrest 560 undocumented foreign nationals.
Police also confiscated 6 rifles, 6 pistols, 4 shotguns and hundreds of ammunition of varying calibre including large consignments of counterfeit goods.
