Johannesburg to elect leaders
Updated | By JacarandaFM News
All eyes are on Johannesburg where the inaugural council meeting is taking place to elect new leadership for the municipality.
The ANC received 44.64 percent of the votes in the municipal election, but failed to achieve an outright majority.
The DA received 38.44 percent of the votes and the EFF 11.11 percent of the votes.
With no coalition agreements in place, political power in the country's economic hub remains up in the air.
The EFF has expressed grave concerns over the DA's choice of mayoral candidate, Herman Mashaba.
The kingmaker party has, however, also made it clear that it would not afford the ANC its support to govern.
