Jooste reported to Hawks
Updated | By Nathan Daniels
Former Steinhoff CEO Markus Jooste has been reported to the Hawks.
Jooste stepped down as CEO of global retailer Steinhoff in December, soon after the company became embroiled in an accounting scandal.
The Hawks confirmed that Jooste has been reported for offences under the Prevention and Combating of Corrupt Practices Act.
Steinhoff office bearers are accounting to Parliament amid allegations of insider trading and financial irregularities.
It's estimated that the scandal cost the Government Employee Pension Fund some 12.5bn.

Hawks spokesperson Hangwani Mulaudzi says investigations are still at an early stage.
"The charges preferred will only come out once the case plan is forwarded to the National Prosecuting Authority. We don't want to take about indictments that are not completed."
Former Steinhoff chairperson Christo Wiese told Parliament he was impressed by Jooste when they first met in 1982.
"I was impressed by him at the time as an energetic young man. Well qualified, but he left Cape Town in mid-80s."
