Journalists queue for Dewani trial
A scuffle ensued at 9am when security officials opened the court and allowed people through the bag scanner.
Police officers enforced order and instructed the media to form a queue outside courtroom two, and leave space at the door for officials to enter and exit.
Dewani, 35, was expected to enter the court at 10am for the second day of his trial.
On Monday, he pleaded not guilty to the five counts against him, seeking to prove his innocence with a plea explanation. He is charged with murder, kidnapping, robbery with aggravating circumstances, and conspiracy to commit these crimes. He is also charged with defeating the ends of justice.
He maintains he and his wife Anni were hijacked while being driven through Gugulethu in a shuttle bus while on honeymoon in Cape Town on Saturday November 13, 2010. He was apparently forced out and the hijackers drove off with Anni.
Anni's slumped body was found on the back seat of the shuttle the next day.
The State alleges Dewani conspired with others to fake the hijacking.
Convicted gunman Xolile Mngeni was jailed for life while his accomplices, driver Zola Tongo and Mziwamadoda Qwabe, are serving 18 years and 25 years respectively for their roles in the crime, in terms of a plea and sentencing agreement.
