Rapper Molemo 'Jub Jub' Maarohanye and Themba Tshabalala have been granted parole.
The Department of Correctional Services has confirmed their parole placement approved by the Correctional Supervision and Parole Boards of Leeuwkop and Baviaanspoort with effect from 5 January 2017.
Department spokesperson Singabakho Nxumalo says both parolees have served four years, one month and one day behind bars.
"They participated in relevant correctional programmes and were further assessed by our special services experts, which amongst others include, social workers and phycologists in order to determine their suitability for parole placement," says Nxumalo.
Maarohanye and Tshabalala were convicted of culpable homicide after crashing their Mini Coopers into a group of school children in Soweto in 2010 during a drag race.
Nxumalo doesn't want to elaborate on their parole conditions.
"They have to adhere to their parole conditions, which are very strict. We can't reveal the details of the conditions, but some of them are very basic. They will have to report their whereabouts and the types of programmes they get involved in," says Nxumalo.
