Maarohanye faces several charges, including rape, attempted murder, and assault relating to incidents that allegedly took place in 2006 and 2009.

He was released on parole in 2017 after being sentenced to 25 years for culpable homicide for killing four pupils during a drag racing crash in Soweto in 2010.

In this recent brush with the law, the musician and TV presenter was granted R10,000 bail in July last year after he handed himself over at the Brixton police station after a warrant of arrest was issued in his name.

Maarohanye’s lawyer, Terrence Baloyi, addressed the court: “On the previous occasion, the matter was postponed until today for submission of reps. We are in possession of the representations. However, my learned colleague told me that we need to submit it to the office of the director of public prosecutions.

“So, from here, we’ll move straight to DPP to submit the same. We’ve agreed on 23 April for outcomes of reps.”

The accused has pleaded not guilty to all the charges against him.
