Julius Malema’s grandmother passes away

The grandmother of Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) leader Julius Malema has passed away, the party said on Saturday.
Malema was raised by his grandmother after the death of his mother during his childhood.
"The EFF is saddened to learn of the passing of Koko Sarah Malema, the CIC Julius Malema’s grandmother who passed away this morning at her home in Seshego, Polokwane. It is with a heavy heart that we receive this news, knowing that just three weeks ago, the Malemas buried one of their aunts, the daughter of Koko Sarah,” EFF secretary-general Godrich Gardee said.
Speaking at the Independent Electoral Commission’s (IEC) results centre in Tshwane, Gardee sent condolences to Malema and his family.
“The greatest matriarch and pillar of their strength has fallen, the great tree that provided cooling shades of comfort, love and stability has been uprooted, forever, from their lives.”
Malema is still expected to address the EFF’s final election rally at Orlando Stadium on Saturday.
“May their hearts by comforted, in particular the CIC Julius Malema, who is leading the most crucial election campaign in his political career. Even more difficult is to receive the news on the eve of the final election Tshela Thupa rally, where he must deliver the final message of the EFF before the country goes to the polls on the 8th of May,” Gardee said.
In this interview with Jacaranda FM News, Malema described life with his grandmother:
