Kagiso cop to appear in court for murder
A sergeant from the police’s West Rand Infrastructure Unit is due to appear in the Kagiso Magistrates Court on Monday.
The man allegedly shot and killed a bouncer at a local pub, and wounded another, following an altercation with his ex-girlfriend on Friday.
He is also accused of assaulting the woman during the altercation.
Independent Police Investigative Directorate (IPID) spokesperson Lizzy Suping says the officer went outside and came back with a firearm.
He then began firing in the direction of the bouncers.
“One bouncer was taken to hospital for medical attention where he died on arrival. One of the bouncers was also shot at and he sustained an injury on his left knee. After the shooting the officer fled the scene and was later found hiding in a shack three houses away from his residence.”
