Kathrada still has confidence in ANC
Updated | By Maryke Vermaak
ANC stalwart Ahmed Kathrada says he is keeping faith in the ANC's policies.
He was speaking following a handover ceremony in Johannesburg, which saw the Indian government donating R2 million to the Ahmed Kathrada Foundation.
Kathrada says the country has come a long way since 1994, but 20 years has not been enough to achieve all that is needed.
As the ruling party engages in a succession debate ahead of its elective conference, Kathrada is urging members to focus on policy and not on individuals.
"The policy of the ANC is still firm as it was and that is absolutely important. When we go into the elections or major changes in the country and the ANC is involved, I have my fullest confidence that no individual, no committee even, can do anything in violation of the constitution," says Kathrada.
