Key Joburg reservoirs impacted by power trip
Updated | By Mapaballo Borotho
Several key reservoirs in Johannesburg have been impacted by a power trip at Rand Water’s Zuikerbosch water treatment plant.

The power tripped on Thursday night.
Rand Water has had to deal with a number of power failures at the Zuikerbosch plant, and Palmiet pump station, which affected water supply to the south of Johannesburg.
Joburg water spokesperson Nombuso Shabalala says the situation has put tremendous strain on Rand Water’s Eikenhof system.
She says alternative water has been arranged for affected areas.
"The Crown Gardens reservoir is also critically low and had to be isolated on Thursday evening to build capacity. Johannesburg Water is constantly monitoring the network to explore any other options to mitigate and find solutions to the water challenges in the area zone," she said.
