The former African National Congress MP launched the ADC in Braamfontein on Friday morning, some three months after announcing her resignation from the ANC.

Khoza resigned from the ANC after serving the party for 35 years.

Speaking to delegates at the Maths Center, Khoza said she is aware that the formation of the ADC has been greeted with skepticism.

I know that political analysts are telling us: Why are you forming another small political party, because there are so many political parties. Is it an ego thing?”

Khoza said there is no reason why her party cannot be a success, since she believes anything is possible in politics.

"I do not know where political analysts live, because in South Africa where I live, the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) won 12 out of 15 seats at Wits University, but there was only an 8% voter turnout, what happens to the 92%?

The SA that I live in, the ANC was defeated in Tshwane, the ANC had already lost in other municipalities as well", says Khoza.

Former Barloworld CEO Isaac Shongwe was also in attendance.

He said it is important for the ADC to prove its critics wrong.

"There are a lot of people out there who are saying, what are they doing? This thing is not going to succeed. My appeal to all of you is, let’s prove them wrong. Let’s show them that there are a lot of other South Africans who are at grass roots level", says Shongwe.
