Kidnappers demand R50k for abducted Welkom girl

An eight-year-old pupil from Mantshebo Primary in Welkom has been abducted from the school’s grounds and her alleged kidnappers are demanding R50 000 for her safe return.
Free State police spokesperson Motantsi Makhele says the child, Bokamoso Shabe, was abducted by an unknown woman on Monday afternoon from the school grounds.
Shabe’s grandmother shortly thereafter received a phone call by a man, referred to as only Aubrey, who demanded that the family pay him R50 000 or he will kill the 8-year-old girl.
The grandmother was again contacted on Tuesday with the same ultimatum. However, this time the call came from a woman calling herself Nthabeleng.
