Kidnapping ‘mastermind’, four others nabbed in Gauteng
Police and the specialised kidnapping task team have arrested a man whom they believe to be the mastermind behind a spate of kidnappings.
The suspected mastermind’s wife was also among the four other suspects who were arrested on Tuesday.
The suspects are linked to last month’s kidnapping of a Midrand businessman.
National police spokesperson Athlenda Mathe says the suspects demanded a ransom payment from the victim’s family and business associates.
"The suspects were arrested at residential properties between Pretoria and Johannesburg. A Toyota Corolla and Toyota quantum which were used in the commission of the crime have been seized.
“Multiple phones and SIM cards have also been seized.”
