KidsCon - a new concept to Comic Con Africa - was put together by a board of directors made up of children and chaired by a 10-year-old.

Comic Con Africa is the South African version of the popular Comic Con festival which was first established in the United States in 1970.
The festival started as a comic book convention in San Diego, showcasing mainly comic books and science fiction and fantasy films, but has since expanded to include genres like gaming, anime and toys.
This year Comic Con Africa - which is in its second year - will also include a KidsCon.

As the first and entirely kid-focused convention in Africa, KidsCon is taking the term “fun and games” to the next level by empowering kids to be expressive and embracing their individuality.
Con's Clair Wright says the idea of bringing children on board is because they know best what other children want.
"It's really for the little people who want to be apart of the whole Comic Con entertainment and pop culture. The beauty of the KidsCon is that it's got a board of directors made up of only kids and the kids they're telling us what they want to see.
"They said we want nerf guns, we want Lego, we want main stage, we want to see Mario and Luigi."
