'Killer dad' guilty of premeditated murder
Marthinus Pelser has been found guilty by the Roodepoort Regional Court of deliberately killing his six-month-old son.
His son, Deon, was found dead in June 2016 by his mother in his cot at their home.
The court found that Deon died after Pelser poured boiling water over him.
The mother, Bianca Rothman, testified in court that she came across the baby's lifeless body.
"I observed his head was swollen. There was blood over his eyes, nose and ears. He was very blue and cold."
Magistrate Delize Smith said that the wounds Deon sustained were not a single act but several acts.
A Facebook group called "Justice for Baby Deon" has described the verdict as a victory.
