An official memorial service was held for him on Thursday at the Khetomthandayo Royal Palace in Nongoma, with President Cyril Ramaphosa delivering the eulogy.

Earlier this afternoon, a large group of the King's amabutho or warriors converged outside the palace gates and demanded that police give them access so they can mourn the king.

Following a forced entry by a large number of amabutho, calm was restored at the palace.

Now that the memorial has concluded, it is expected for the King's will to be read out.

There was some uncertainty around this aspect but it has been confirmed that this will take place behind closed doors.

As to whether this will include the announcement of his successor, this is something only time will time tell and will have to wait and play by ear.
