Lategan went missing on Monday evening. She was expected to meet a client, but did not arrive for the appointment.

Police spokesperson Captain Appel Ernst said the body was found by school children in the wetlands next to a stream.

The cause of death has not been confirmed.

Ernst said there was an attempt to withdraw money from her bank account in Krugersdorp.

"Her car was also found outside Krugersdorp Private Hospital," Ernst said.

Ernst said this is the third murder in the area in three weeks.

The body of a 29 year-old insurance broker was found in a black bag in the boot of his car near Krugersdorp CBD last week.

Three weeks ago the body of a 67 year-old insurance broker was also found in the boot of his car in Krugersdorp North.

The Krugersdorp Community Policing Forum's chairperson, Gert Jonker, said the community was concerned about the possibility of a serial killer.

Jonker said in all three incidents the victims were supposed to be meeting clients.

"We have asked SAPS for provincial and national police competency to investigate all three murders. There seems to be parallels between the three, there are very apparent similarities," he said.

Jonker added community members have been warned to be vigilant and estate agents and insurance brokers have been advised to meet clients in public places.
