ANC KZN to appeal judgement
Updated | By Sibahle Motha
The African National Congress in Kwa-Zulu Natal says it will appeal the decision by the Pietermaritzburg High Court declaring the 2015 provincial conference invalid.
The judgement was handed down this morning by Judge Jerome Mngumi.
Provincial party spokesperson Mdumiseni Ntuli says they will now study the judgement before they can appeal the decision.
"We will be studying it over the next few days. We were given 15 days within which we want to appeal the judgment".
ANC KZN believes that the Supreme Court of Appeal (SCA) will grant them a different decision compared to the one received today.
"We are convinced the SCA will give us a different conclusion to the one made today", adds Ntuli.

Political Analyst Ralph Mathekga believes the decision handed down today has the potential to change things within the ANC especially with the upcoming elective conference in December.
"There is a possibility that the decision will end up being appealed and if it is appealed, it will throw the whole conference into chaos. This will introduce a great deal of uncertainty", adds Mathekga.
Senzo Mchunu, who was replaced by Sihle Zikalala at the 2015 conference as provincial chairperson, is considered loyal to Deputy President Cyril Ramaphosa.
