KwaZulu-Natal (KZN) is today opening a special centre, to commemorate 30 years since the release of former president, Nelson Mandela, from prison.

Madiba served 27-years behind bars on Robben Island and at Pollsmoor and Victor Verster Prisons before he walked out of the gates in the Western Cape as a free man on 11 Febraury 1990.
To commemorate the historic day, KwaZulu-Natal will open a Mandela multi-purpose and exhibition centre at the site in Howick where Mandela was captured.
The province's Department for Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs' (Cogta) spokesperson Senzelwe Mzila says it's a place for people to learn about Madiba's liberation history and values.
"Howick is on the very same site where Madiba was captured in 1962," says Mzila.
He adds the site is very significant because it is the last place Mandela was a free man.
