KZN health says 'no panic' after swine flu death
Updated | By ECR News
KwaZulu-Natal health officials say there is no outbreak of
Swine flu (H1N1) in the province.
This comes after a nine-year-old Maritzburg girl died last week at a school in the province - after apparently contracting the virus.
MEC of health, Nomagugu Simelane-Zulu, says people should not panic but calls on schools to exercise caution.
"We are expecting the schools to isolate those cases that are affected because in about four days or so, once it has been established from zero-day to day four is till infectious, but after that, it is not infectious when it is treated correctly. But we really want to emphasise and call on everyone to exercise restrain because the moment we say it's an outbreak we are going to cause hysteria which is not sustainable."
