KZN man arrested for rape of elderly woman, granddaughter
Updated | By ECR
A suspect was arrested just hours after he allegedly raped a 51-year-old woman and her 7-year-old granddaughter at their Chesterville home, west of Durban, on Sunday.

KwaZulu-Natal police spokesperson Thembeka Mbele says the suspect was the victims' neighbour.
“The suspect went to a neighbour’s house and knocked at the door. When they opened, he’s a known suspect, then they threatened him with a knife.”
A 12-year-old was also present but managed to escape and ran to a neighbour who notified the police.
Mbhele says the alarm was raised by another minor who escaped the ordeal.
“The suspect fled the scene. Police worked tirelessly up until he was tracked and arrested.”
He will appear in court soon on charges of rape.
