The Independent Police Investigative Directorate (IPID) says they are investigating a case of death as a result of police action in KwaZulu-Natal.
IPID spokesperson Grace Langa says on Saturday local KZN police were notified of a man who stabbed and killed his girlfriend.
“It is alleged a 34-year-old male from KZN stabbed and killed his own girlfriend after he had paid her a visit at number C37 Zambia Amaoti where the incident took place.”
Langa says when police arrived on the scene they found the man cutting up the body
“The boyfriend, who is now the deceased, was reported to the police and when police arrived at the girlfriend 's cottage, they found him busy cutting the girlfriend's body opening her stomach and taking out the intestines as if he was conducting the post-mortem.”
Langa further explains that the man tried to attack the policemen but was shot dead.
“Three 9mm empty cartridges were found on the scene and the knife was also recovered.
“The identity of the woman could not be confirmed even though she was killed in her room. The family is not known as we could not identify the woman but investigations continue.”
