Three suspects shot and killed the 46-year-old man at his home at the Infume Village near Durban.

The incident took place on the first day of the Independent Electoral Commission's voter registration weekend ahead of the 2019 elections.

" It is alleged that in the early hours of yesterday (Saturday) three unknown suspects armed with firearms entered the house in the Infume area, in the south coast, and they kicked the door open and fired several shots at the 46-year-old man. He sustained multiple gunshot wounds to the body and died at the scene.

"The motive for the killing is still unknown at this stage and investigations are continuing," says KZN police's Nqobile Gwala.

Gwala says a second incident took place in the same area on Saturday.

"Two victims, aged 27 and 29, were walking home when they were attacked by three unknown suspects who were travelling in an unknown vehicle. They fired several shots at the victims and they both died at the scene."
