KZN Premier orders MECs to investigate viral Ballito altercation
Updated | By ECR
KwaZulu-Natal Premier Sihle Zikalala has instructed the MECs for Safety and Local Government to urgently investigate a scuffle between a father and two KwaDukuza municipal peace officers that has led to a public outcry.
It's understood the altercation - which was captured on video - occurred when the officers responded to a complaint about families that had been seen at the beach on Sunday morning.
The video shows one of the officers taking a young screaming child from a complex in Ballito, while the father tussles with them to try and get the child back.

Zikalala says the abuse of children won't be tolerated.
His spokesperson Lennox Mabaso says Zikalala is expecting a report from the MECs as soon as possible.
"What frightened the premier was the involvement of a child in the incident. It concerned the premier very much.
"You'll be aware that the premier has had a strong struggle against the abuse of women and children and vulnerable people in our society."
