A KwaZulu-Natal man was jailed for 15 years by the Maphumulo Regional Court for raping and robbing a woman, police said on Thursday.
Sphiwe Mkhanyiselwa Mpungose, 24, was arrested in 2011 for raping a 31-year-old woman at her house in Ocheni, said Colonel Jay Naicker.
"He attacked the woman with a screwdriver in her house while she was sleeping, raped her, and robbed her of money," he said.
Mpungose was sentenced on Wednesday to 12 years for rape and three years for robbery. He was arrested three days after the matter was reported to police.
