Lehari is set to shed more light on what transpired when a photograph showing an apparently racially divided Grade R classroom went viral on social media.

A task team was established to probe the racism allegations last week Wednesday - on the first day of the new academic year.

He is set to address the media and release the preliminary outcome of their investigations in Mahikeng on Thursday.

The teacher show was suspended after the photo went public, Elana Barkhuizen, vowed to institute legal proceedings against the provincial department for defamation of character and to lift her suspension.

Barkhuizen, who is employed by the school’s governing body (SGB), believes her suspension is unlawful.

She was also not the teacher of the Grade R class but only took the picture.

The department’s spokesperson, Freddy Sepeng, confirmed that it was not Lehari that suspended her but the SGB.

He remained tight-lipped on reports that the school’s principal and the actual teacher of the class will face suspension.
