Late witness delays dagga trial
Updated | By Lonwabo Miso
Magistrate Hazel Khoza postponed the matter to February 23 for the trial to start, a Sapa correspondent reported.
The court heard that an unnamed witness failed to arrive on time.
The chef, Moses Sibiya, 42, appeared alongside his co-accused, 18-year-old inmate Mfundo Mqwathi on charges of possession of dagga.
Sibiya is accused of smuggling four matchboxes of dagga into the Tonga police station's holding cells on November 7, 2014 and handing them to Mqwathi.
He and Mqwathi have not been asked to plead to charges of possession of dagga.
Sibiya was out on bail of R500. Mqwathi remained in custody due to the other charges he faces, including house robbery.
