Latest July unrest ‘instigator’ set to plead guilty

The latest suspect arrested on suspicion of instigating the July unrest in Gauteng and KwaZulu-Natal is apparently set to plead guilty.
Bernington Mabaso was arrested by the Hawks on Tuesday.
He appeared in the Roodepoort Magistrate’s Court on Thursday when the case was postponed January 31..
He is charged with inciting public violence.
Mabaso joins seven other suspected instigators in the dock, including former student activist Bongikosi Nkanyile.
The Dobsenville resident allegedly sent messages in a WhatsApp group called ‘Real Zuma Activists 100% inciting members to loot.
Police and the National prosecuting authority have not divulged the exact details of what Mabaso sent to the group due to ongoing investigations.
However, cell phones and a licenced firearm were confiscated at his home.
