Tensions run high in Wits protest over financial exclusion

Following the death of Mthokozisi Ntumba in the ongoing student protest over financial exclusion at the University of the Witwatersrand (Wits) on Wednesday, tension is mounting.
On Thursday, Wits Vice-Chancellor (VC) Zeblon Vilakazi will be addressing a media briefing on the matter.
This will be followed by a Cabinet briefing, where the Minister of Higher Education, Balde Nzimande will be joining the briefing.
On Wednesday, the Independent Police Investigative Directorate (Ipid) confiscated firearms from the police after they visited the crime scene.
