A learner from a high school in Vanderbijlpark has been
caught with crystal meth drugs on the school ground.
The search at the Sapphire Secondary School was conducted as part of the 'Okae Molao' operation by the Gauteng Community Department.
"In this school, we discovered a lot of quite dangerous weapons; however, the shocking one was to find a crystal meth drugs amongst some of the learners," says Gauteng Member of the Executive Committee (MEC) for Community Safety, Faith Mazibuko.
"They allege that they sell it for others at cost of fifty rand. Our teachers are not safe in schools," says Mazibuko.
She adds that part of the aim of the operation is to deal with such matters.
"We believe that with these on-going campaigns on school safety searches, we can be able to deal with most of these wrong things," concludes Mazibuko.
