At least 11 killed in Good Friday crash

Western Cape traffic authorities say at least 11 people were killed and 13 injured in an accident between a minibus and a bus on the N1 between Leeu Gamka and Beaufort West.
The accident happened at around 5 am on Friday.
According to a Department statement preliminary indications are that the minibus had a flat tyre and that the bus then drove in.
“My sincere condolences to the families who lost loved ones in the crash this morning and I wish a speedy recovery to the injured,” said Daylin Mitchell, Provincial Minister of Transport and Public Works.

“We urge road users to be extra vigilant this long weekend,” he added and continued.
The Road Traffic Management Corporation said the minibus was travelling from the Western Cape to the Eastern Cape.
