Emergency services managed to distinguish the blaze, but not before 10 shacks burned to the ground.

Spokesperson Robert Mulaudzi says the families were placed in nearby shelters.

“We activated our disaster management officials to assist them with some relief.

“Since we know that we are in a lockdown, we have called on our disaster management to make sure that they have got emergency shelter around the area while the rebuilding process is underway.”

No injuries or fatalities were reported and the cause of the fire remains unknown.
