Updated | By Newswatch
Three people have been killed in connection with heavy rains and floods that hit parts of KwaZulu-Natal on New Year's Eve.
In Pietermaritzburg, search and rescue officials spent most of Monday searching for a family of three.
It's understood that the family's vehicle washed away, while they attempted to cross a bridge above Henley Dam.
Once authorities located the vehicle, they found the bodies of a woman and young child.
The search for a man who was also in the vehicle continued on Tuesday.
In Mandeni, a seven-year-old boy drowned after a rainstorm led to the destruction of homes and infrastructure in the area.
