Leave the fuel levy alone pleads the AA
Updated | By Sinethemba Madolo
The Automobile Association (AA) of South Africa is concerned over a possible hefty fuel levy hike that might be announced during the budget speech in Parliament.

Finance Minister, Malusi Gigaba, will deliver the speech in Parliament at 2pm on Wednesday afternoon.
The AA's Layton Beard says the hike will negatively impact customers and business.
"Any increase to the fuel level which are above inflation will certainly hurt the poorest of the poorest the most, as we know any increase in the fuel price is passed onto the consumers," Beard says.

He adds Treasury shouldn't use the levy as a method for easy revenue collection.
"We speculated and said although it's an easy revenue we would not like to see the fuel levy being used as easy money to collect revenue from motorists," Beard explains.
