In Tshwane alone there are an estimated 2000 homeless people who ordinarily live on the streets of the capital city.

A decision has been made to house them at Caledonian Stadium.

Lesufi visited the stadium on Wednesday morning, saying that the provincial government has received a number of donations to help house and feed the homeless.

“We really believe we are starting to get control of the homeless in our province. It was one situation which was worrying and it was one that we really needed to put under control.

“We are overwhelmed by the social partners who have made contributions, whether it was water and all those things, we really believe we should thank them and we believe that we will handle the situation in a way that will assist everyone.”
