Let's work for a woman president: Dlamini-Zuma
Updated | By Samkelo Maseko
ANC NEC member and AU chairperson Dr Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma says she sees no reason why a female president cannot become a South African reality.
"Women need to take their rightful place in society. So, as a principle, if the ANC Women's League wants a woman president, let's work for it" she said.
Dlamini-Zuma addressed the issue on the first day of a gathering of Africa editors and press officers.
She has been touted by ANC leagues to take over from her former husband, President Jacob Zuma.
The party has an elective conference scheduled for 2017.
Dlamini Zuma has questioned why the top leadership position cannot be filled by a woman.
