Limpopo cop arrested for assaulting wife
Police in Limpopo have arrested a police officer for allegedly assaulting his wife at Mavhunga Village in Vhembe on Friday night.
According to preliminary reports, the 46-year-old officer, attached to the SAPS Modimolle K9 Unit, arrived home on Friday night and woke his wife up, leading to a heated argument.
Police spokesperson Hlulani Mashaba says the suspect then allegedly assaulted his wife.
"The victim managed to escape and ran outside the yard but the suspect allegedly followed her until the victim got assistance from a motorist who gave her a lift to Mphephu police station.
"The victim opened a case of assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm. The suspect was arrested shortly after the incident."
The suspect is expected to appear before Dzanani Magistrate's Court in due course.
