Limpopo father in court for raping daughter

A 35-year-old man from Maphophe Village outside Malamulele is expected to appear in court on Wednesday for allegedly raping his 5-year-old daughter.
The man allegedly called his daughter to his room while she was playing with her friends.
He was arrested on Tuesday.
Limpopo MEC for Social Development Nkakareng Rakgoale says social workers have been sent to provide support to the girl.
“What has happened is inhumane and this is an indication that some community members have actually turned into something else. You cannot even want to start imagining what was going on in his mind when he committed this senseless act.
"This matter has been referred to our social workers who have started providing psychosocial support to the victim, her family and other affected parties,” says Rakgoale.
She says the court must not show any leniency to the man.
“We want the courts to deal harshly with perpetrators of gender-based violence and who have total disregard of the law. These are people who strip away the rights and dignity of the vulnerable members of our community.
"We also want to appreciate family members who reported this matter to the authorities, as breaking the silence assists us to expose these evil deeds,”
