Limpopo Health spokesperson, Neil Shikwambana, said the department will pursue misconduct charges against the doctor following an internal investigation.
“The department takes allegations of sexual misconduct within healthcare facilities with the utmost seriousness. Upon receiving the complaint, immediate steps were taken to ensure the safety and well-being of the affected patient while initiating a formal investigative process in line with public service prescripts,” said Shikwambana.
He added that although the department upholds the principle of innocent until proven guilty, they reiterate a zero-tolerance stance on any form of abuse or misconduct within health facilities.
