Limpopo Health: Nehawu guilty of attempted murder

The Health Department in Limpopo has accused members of the National Education, Health and Allied Workers Union (Nehawu) of attempted murder.
Chaos broke out at the Pietersburg Hospital in Polokwane after members went on an illegal picket at the maternity ward demanding a top-up bonus.
Operations were brought to a standstill on Wednesday after members trashed the hospital and damaged equipment.
“Tantamount to attempted murder. Also, you should understand that Pietersburg Hospital, we are dealing with critical cases,” says provincial health spokesperson Neil Shikwamba.
He lashed the members alleged to belong to Nehawu for “putting people’s lives at risk”.
Shikwamba says they have already paid R43 million in performance bonuses.
A case of vandalism has been opened while internal investigations have also been launched.
