Phineas Kgomo (18) broke into the rented home of the woman where he threatened her with a knife before taking her cell phone, money, bank cards and car keys.

On Tuesday, Kgomo was sentenced to six years for housebreaking, 15 years for robbery with aggravating circumstance and 20 years for rape.

Co-accused Lesiba Molokomme (31) was sentenced to life imprisonment for rape, five years for kidnapping and seven years for theft of a vehicle.

Spokesperson for the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) in Limpopo Mashudu Malabi says Kgomo drove the teacher’s car and subsequently raped her in the bushes.

“He then tied her up with an electrical cord and raped her, he further put her in a boot of the car and drove with his co-accused Molokomme.

“The complainant was left in the bushes, managed to break loose and ran to the community to seek help.”

The two then drove with her to a nearby ATM and withdrew money from her account.
