Heavy rains, strong winds and possible flooding have been forecast for these areas.

Cyclone Dineo made landfall in Mozambique last night, but has since been downgraded to a tropical storm.

Forecaster Kevin Rae says: "The threat is particularly high for the Lowveld and the escarpment."

He says heavy rainfall can be expected overnight.

"Our numeric modelling suggests rainfall of about 100mm - 200mm, but in our experience with such tropical storms it is quite possible we might even see up to 350mm of rainfall in some places."

The rain is expected to continue until tomorrow.

Dineo reached Inhambane last night, buffeting the town with winds in excess of 100 km/h, torrential rain and rough seas.

Roofs were torn off, electricity supply cut as infrastructure had been damaged, and roads had also been flooded and blocked by debris according to local media.
